Harwell Football Club is hoping to propel itself to the next level after securing a new sponsorship deal with housebuilder Bloor Homes.
The developer, which is building at The Willows development in the village, has signed a two-year agreement with the club worth £1,200 to sponsor the team’s playing kit and tracksuit.

Harwell FC is embarking on its first season in Division Two of the North Berkshire Football League after sealing promotion as the champions of the third division in the last campaign.

The team plays its home matches at the Harwell Laboratories Recreational Association (HRLA) pitch at the Harwell Oxford science and technology campus.

Thomas Fisher, captain of Harwell FC, said: “As the only football club based in Harwell we are delighted to have secured sponsorship with Bloor Homes for the next two seasons.

“The deal is a great way to celebrate our promotion to the second division and we hope it will help the club step up and perform at the next level.

“Our previous kit had been used for five years and had become very worn out and in need of updating, so we’re extremely grateful to Bloor for their support which will help us look the part on the pitch this season.”

Bloor is building 80 homes at The Willows development off Blenheim Hill in the east of the village.

Kim Willcock, Regional Sales Director at Bloor Homes Southern, said: “We are proud to be sponsoring Harwell FC as they embark on their debut season in the second division of the league.
“We hope our support will enable the club to go from strength to strength and we wish them all the best for the new season.”
