Homeowners in Ambrosden say making a home their own is number one moving in priority

18/03/2015 - General

The research canvassed the views of more than 2,000 homeowners across the UK and reveals the top priorities for new homeowners when they move home.

More than half (54%) make it a priority to decorate the downstairs living areas to impress guests while the more private upstairs rooms are a secondary focus (37%) for homemovers. Some of the larger and more disruptive jobs also make the top ten list of personalisation touches including installing a new kitchen (28%), landscaping the garden (28%) and redoing the bathroom (24%).

However, while it seems homeowners across the UK are content to personalise their homes with soft furnishings and interior décor, very few embark on home renovation. Less than one in ten add a conservatory and even fewer (6%) extend the property or convert the loft (5%).

If reserved early enough, with a new build home, there are a range of specification options available to help homemovers personalise their property.  For example, at Bloor Homes, purchasers can choose from Symphony kitchens, Roca sanitary ware, Porcelanosa tiles and Spaceslide wardrobes; all in various finishes and styles to suit individual tastes. High specification integrated appliances are standard from brands including Hotpoint and Siemens.  Then of course, it’s simply a question of moving in and enjoying life in the new home without having to worry about costly and time consuming DIY.

Vanessa Macnee, Regional Sales Director from Bloor Homes South Midlands explains: Our research reveals that after moving in, homeowners focus on splashing out to make their mark on their new home, even going to great expense to change kitchens and bathrooms.  One of the major benefits of a new build home from Bloor Homes however is the ability to make it your own from the very beginning, without incurring additional costs after you have moved in.

For househunters in Ambrosden, Bloor Homes’ development Springfield Farm offers a selection of high specification new build homes, perfect for adding personal touches to.

Springfield Farm is set in a great location for families and commuters alike, with a good range of facilities in Ambrosden village itself including a primary school, village hall and local shops. The development is perfectly placed for commuters, with the M40 close by, whilst London Marylebone can be reached in under an hour from Bicester North rail station.

* According to Lloyds Bank which compiled the figures, it is the largest annual increase in the number of homemovers since 2010 and was the third successive rise.
