Bloor Homes was granted planning permission to build 58 new homes on the 2.5-hectare site off Marton Road in May last year.
Once completed the development, known as Lilac View, will comprise a range of two, three and four-bedroom properties, including two-bedroom bungalows with 20 of the homes being provided as affordable housing.
Work will be carried out to provide a new and improved pedestrian access path to Marton Road, and a package of financial contributions has been secured to support local infrastructure and to upgrade existing recreational facilities in the village.
Paul Degg, Regional Managing Director at Bloor Homes Midlands, said: “Our Lilac View development will help to meet the demand for housing in the area and will appeal to a range of buyers, from first-time buyers to growing families and those looking to downsize.
“We have worked closely with planning officers to ensure we deliver a high-quality development, which is in keeping with the area. The homes have been carefully designed to reflect their surroundings and we believe they will make a positive addition to the village.
“We’re pleased to have commenced work on the first homes at Lilac View and look forward to welcoming visitors to the development in the summer.”
As part of the development, Bloor Homes will be providing funding of more than £335,000 for local services and infrastructure.
Contributions will include £176,492 for primary and secondary education, £60,317 towards healthcare provision, £76,043 to support biodiversity in the area, £16,359 for an off-site play area, £6,650 for open space, and £1,075 for library services.
