See what some of our people say about working for Bloor Homes

We value our employees and hope that they feel valued too. From new arrivals to people who have been with us for decades, they’re all important and all have a vital contribution to make.

But don’t just take our word for it:

I have been with the company for 26 years. I started off as a Trainee Engineer and have now progressed to a Construction Director. I was always interested in construction/building homes and this was recognised. You get out what you put in.

I like the fact that we build a product we are proud of in terms of quality. I am also proud that people are known by names, not by titles. When I walk around our houses, it gives me a sense of achievement that we build good homes.

Jon King, Construction Director

I feel proud to work for an organisation that sees it's people as it's number one asset and also recognises the value that Human Resources can bring to the organisation. Bloor Homes invest in their people which is one of the reasons I wanted to join the company. This has been confirmed over my time Bloor Homes by meeting employees who have years of experience and have progressed from Trainees to Director Level.

Steph Sawyer, HR Advisor

You are given a good amount of responsibility here and I have been able to run with my own projects. It’s very encouraging to have a strong network behind me and have the support from my Directors.

Bloor Homes recruit a lot of trainees and students so it is really motivating that the company invests in it's people and their careers.  Bloor Homes have a good reputation with a much more personal approach, prompt decision making and attention to detail which is important for success.

Emily Hale, Development Planner

I am proud to work for a highly respected organisation that puts morals, integrity and transparency at the forefront of its ethos.

We achieve something great every day. We all come to work because we enjoy what we do, we enjoy working together for the same goals and we confront and make progress with all the obstacles placed in our way.

John Lusty, Managing Director

The path I have taken is a route I would thoroughly recommend someone else to take. When you join Bloor Homes as a Trainee Quantity Surveyor, you are being paid whilst also learning on the job and being sent to university to study for a degree. The company helps you to succeed and to leave University fully qualified with a job, no debt and a wealth of experience which is great.

Ross McCulloch , Quantity Surveyor

I enjoy working for Bloor Homes, having the opportunity to work on different projects and also helping purchasers with their queries, providing good customer service for the company.

Being a family run business means that all of the Directors of Bloor Homes, at all levels, are accessible and not just a name behind a door and you are not just a number on the payroll - you are a member of a team.  I could quite easily call any member of the team at the regional office a friend, not just a colleague.

Helen Grainger, Office Manager/PA

What makes Bloor Homes different from other housebuilders is that it's still owned and run as a private business. Decisions are made quicker and I feel empowered to make a difference. Everyone is accountable for achieving their potential. Bloor Homes has a reputation for hard work and commitment and for that I feel rewarded.

Spending time to develop people and improve team working with contractors is essential to produce a quality product.

Trevor Lee-Cann, Contracts Manager

The help and support I have received from management and my team in terms of my career progression is what I've loved most about working here. There has been a genuine interest in my career goals and I have received the support I need to progress.

I have attended training which has helped me support the team, impart my knowledge and has given me the skills to help me with my own work.

Kelly Williams, Technical Assistant & Land Secretary

I have been promoted from Trainee Surveyor to Assistant Surveyor recently. The company makes it clear with both performance and pay reviews that they recognise your hard work.

You are given responsibility and are encouraged to do more. I was lucky enough to be placed on site for 3 months which gave me an opportunity to learn my role further.

Warren Johnson, Assistant Surveyor

In my role I have the opportunity to influence the creation of the site layouts from an engineering point of view during the pre-planning stages. This helps reduce the impact of engineering comments further down the line once planning is granted and ensures a smoother process during the technical approval stages.

It makes me proud seeing the final product when we get onto site, knowing I have designed an element of that and to know the work involved.

Warren Williams, Senior Engineer

Bloor Homes has given me the opportunity to promote, drive and explore quality training and learning, enabling the Apprentices to complete their NVQs.

I'm proud to be part of an organisation that is capable of transforming and building a site into a new estate and developing a new community on such a large scale.  As a team, all trades and staff go the extra mile, often whatever the weather, to complete the work on time and to the customer's satisfaction.

Brent Lintin, Bricklaying Apprentice Master

I started out working for Bloor Homes on a temporary basis and then became permanent. I have worked on reception, in sales and now customer care where I have progressed to Customer Relations Manager. I feel that I have touched upon lots of business elements along the way.

In my role now as Customer Relations Manager I feel I am achieving more and getting a lot out of the role. You feel valued when customers are satisfied and you get praised for your part in that.

Tracey Broster, Customer Relations Manager
